How do I move my website to Hardfocus from another providor?
First of all, thank you for selecting us as your hosting provider!
You will need a copy of your all your website data, including MySQL databases, mail, etc. If your existing hosting account has cPanel, it's quite easy to backup the entire hosting account. If you don't have cPanel or another hosting control panel, you might be able to backup your site manually or you might have to enlist the assistance of your existing hosting providor.
The next step is to rebuild your entire website, subdomains, add-on domains, databases, etc. on the new server. If you provide us with a cPanel backup we can use this to data to regenerate your account for you on our servers. In fact, with cPanel, there are ways we can move the data directly from your current hosting providor.
Next you need to change the name server entries on your domain name registration record. (This is the info that appears on the whois query of your domain name(s)) This change is made through your domain name registrar. Will will provide you with the correct name server details when they are required.
After the name server entries have been changed, it will usually take about four hours for the changes to progagate through the DNS, world-wide. The actual time will depend on DNS record caching (TTL) on the original DNS servers and on the caching policy of individual service providors. The switch can be made more timely (i.e., less than 4 hours) when the TTL entries for your domain zone records have been shortened on the old DNS servers, a day or so prior to the switch to the new DNS servers.
